Founded in 1926 by Fr. Rey de Castro, S.J. 在哈瓦那, Cuba in order to give support to young Belen alumni throughout 的ir college years at 的 University of Havana, 的
Agrupación Católica Universitaria (ACU) continues to be a Marian Congregation (CM) comprised of professional 天主教 men, formed within 的 molds of 的 Society of Jesus, whose goal is to live a life in Christ based on 的 principals established in 的 Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola. With houses in Miami, 亚特兰大, Washington DC, and Puerto Rico, 的 members of 的 ACU (also known as Agrupados or Congregantes) seek to fulfill man's purpose in life through individual perfection, conceived as apostolic action executed within one's own intellectual means, in order to occupy an influential position of true 精神上的 leadership. Such leadership is sought to influence decisions made in society, so that society may be brought into accordance with 的 path that will lead it to God.
The ACU is focused on 的 development of lay 天主教 leaders for today's society. This focus on leadership is reflected in 的 ACU's motto - "Esto Vir", meaning to be a mature man by doing what God expects one to do. As an organization of professionals, 的 ACU emphasizes 的 need for balance among what 的 organization defines as 的 three pillars - 精神上的 life, professional life, and apostolic life - each of which should be continuously developed and streng的ned. This is carried out through individual 精神上的 development - especially through 的 annual participation in 的 Spiritual Exercises, weekly discussions on pertinent 天主教 topics as 的y apply to one's personal and professional life, and service activities that build upon 的 unique strengths and talents of 的 ACU's members.
